Our ranch is located in Durand, Illinois along the beautiful Pecatonica River. In 2003, by mere accident, we started in the Hereford business after a friend joked we were going to have to “mow all that grass.” The friend of course was referring to investing in Hereford cattle, and so it all began from there. Soon, with the purchase of our foundation cow DJR Molly 102, we literally began to build our cowherd around this outstanding donor. We began to hit the show road in 2004, and we have had cattle at every junior national since. Within two years, River Ridge exhibited our first class, division and grand champion. 2009 marked our first National Champion, a feat we are extremely proud of. We pride ourselves in running strictly donor females at the ranch, with an extensive group of ET calves to form our spring calf crop. Our cowherd runs deep with 8006, Online, L18 and Centennial 1H. The ranch is completely run by our family, consisting of 115 acres of green pasture and alfalfa grass hay. We cull extremely hard and feel that if we would not put them in our donor pen, then we will not sell them to you and expect you to put them in yours. In other words, we will not ever have a “garage sale.” We want to raise eye appealing, easy fleshing, performance driven cattle for our customers … The complete package from pasture to plate.
